About us

People of action on the West Shore

We're part of Rotary International, a global network of more than 1.2 million neighbours, friends and leaders who come together to create lasting change, in our communities, in our countries and around the world.

Service Above Self

The Rotary motto. Our own club motto has long been "Helping Near, Helping Afar": we take care of the West Shore, and we use the global reach of Rotary to help people far from home.

Who we are

A club that fits real life

Rotary's presence on the West Shore began in 1972 with the founding of the Rotary Club of Colwood. The original Rotary Club of West Shore began in 2003, and the two clubs merged in 2017. Today we're one club serving Langford, Colwood, View Royal, Metchosin, Highlands and beyond.

Our members are retirees, business owners, young professionals, parents and grandparents. We know everyone leads busy lives, so we're flexible: we don't expect you to attend every meeting, just to contribute in a way that suits you. Children are always welcome at our meetings and events.

We're particularly active in literacy and education, youth, playgrounds and parks, and clean water, and we love a good hands-on project.

The Four-Way Test

Rotarians around the world use this simple test in their personal and professional lives. Of the things we think, say or do:

  1. Is it the truth?
  2. Is it fair to all concerned?
  3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?
  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

Our meetings

Most Fridays at 12:15 pm at Cherish at Central Park, plus a monthly evening social. Guests are always welcome.
